Since 1984 Alpacas have appeared in many countries. The U.S., Canada, New Zealand, France, Australia and England all have their foundation stock established for national herds. Canada is however the only country at the moment outside of Europe who can export Alpacas to England - and England is a very active market for these animals at the moment. The textiles produced from alpaca fibre are known throughout the fashion centers of Paris, Milan and Tokyo. Compounding A major investment benefit of owning Alpacas is based on compounding. Alpacas produce one cria every year and normally one half of their offspring are female. When you retain the offspring they begin producing and this is known as "Alpaca Compounding". A single Alpaca female can have 15 or more offspring in her lifetime. In one year she doubles her value. Alpacas are an excellent retirement fund as well as a pleasure to own. Tax Deferred Wealth Tax Deferred wealth is another advantage. As your herd increases you avoid paying income tax on its increased value until you begin selling the offspring. At that time the expenses incurred for buying the animal and keeping it are deducted from the sale price.
The first way is through "Hands on Alpaca Investment". This type of investing, either as a part-time or full time business, requires a small farm or acreage. The second type of ownership is referred to as " Agisted Alpaca Investment". This method is very common in Australia, New Zealand and is becoming popular in Canada and the U.S. The animals are agisted (boarded) at the farm where they were purchased or elsewhere. The costs of agisting are very reasonable, 3 to 4 dollars a day, and make it possible for investors that don't have the land or time required to care for the animals. Often the farm where the alpacas are boarded or where they were originally purchased can provide the service of marketing support when the owner decides to begin selling the animals. Alpacas are a joy to behold and own. However, they are not for everyone and at Windy Pastures I am committed to helping potential owners and investors explore all avenues of Alpaca ownership, keeping their personal needs and requirements in mind. In order to accomplish this I liase with several high quality Alpaca farms both in and outside the area. Happy satisfied customers is my first priority and if I don't have what you are looking for I will find it for you. People have many different reasons for investing in Alpacas and Alpaca owners are as interesting and diverse as the animals themselves. There are Alpaca companions or pet animals that help relieve stress and bring joy to their owners. Spinners and Weavers love to use their fleece and can create valuable textiles with their fibre. Senior citizens like the ease of care and peace the alpacas bring to their lives, as well as, the investment aspect in their later years. Baby boomers enjoy the potential profit to be realized as a long- term investment package for retirement income. Farmers are attracted to the ability to integrate the alpaca herd with other livestock and the minimal acreage, feed, shelter and veterinary requirements associated with Alpacas. The serious investor loves the return on their original investment. As you can see Alpaca owners come from all walks of life - what they all have in common is an appreciation and love of the animals themselves as they come to know the fabulous Alpaca. |
