At Windy Pastures one of our goals is to introduce you to alpacas (known as the "Treasure of the Inca's" and "Peru's National Treasure") and to educate you on their history. We also provide basic information with regards to the care involved in raising and breeding alpacas, and their many uses. This information will help you decide if Alpacas are for you.

We offer many services for people interested in finding out more about alpacas, those who are considering purchasing/breeding alpacas, and for people who already own alpacas and want to learn more. We can also help if you want to get further training or want to increase your alpaca business and expand into other alpaca markets.

Margaret with Her Lady Alpaca FriendsOnce you have fallen in love with the Alpaca and have decided that you want to enter into this fascinating industry, one of the services that we offer is helping you determine your specific needs and requirements in the alpaca industry in order to accommodate the lifestyle you wish to achieve.

At Windy Pastures we want you to be happy with the animal you chose and that it fills whatever your need may be. We help you sort through all of the information regarding alpacas for use as pets, or companion animals (in which case you may want a more mature or senior alpaca, who's temperament has already been determined, so you can enjoy the company of an animal that is relatively easy to care for, and magnificent to watch and be with.)

You may want to purchase an alpaca that is best suited for its fibre or animals intended to be used as breeding stock for a small herd of your own. You may also be interested in purchasing high quality breeding stock for investment purposes (to find out more about the use of alpacas for investment, please click here). We help you sort through the different sets of criteria to find the right path to take and therefore to purchase the animal(s) that is/are best suited to your needs

Once you have determined what your goals are, and  you know what you want, where you are headed within the alpaca industry, and how you are going to achieve your goals, it is then time to pick your animals and take the plunge into the joys and tribulations of Alpaca ownership.

At this point we can offer advice on animal husbandry, help you to determine the setup you require for the type of alpacas you are purchasing and we always supply after sales support, especially in those nervous early months of first time ownership. Marg. spinning at the Naven Agricultural FairOnce you have established your own setup you will want to maintain the plan that you have developed and continue to pursue your dreams within the alpaca industry.

Whether it be a pet animal, fibre animal, breeding stock for a small herd of your own, quality breeding stock for investment purposes, senior animals for the thrill of seeing them munching in the fields. All of these diverse reasons for ownership have their own set of criteria. We help you to sift through all the information, which can be overwhelming at times and focus on what is right for you.

At Windy Pastures, we want you to be pleased with the animals you buy and the services you require. Therefore, if we are unable to personally fulfill your requirements,  we will help you find someone who can.
