Please contact us with regards to specific training needs, or if your group or organization you belong is interested in a specific training workshop, such as the TTEAM Clinic we held at our Farm in August of 2001.

Below is information from the training clinic we held in 2001, which will give you an idea of some of the training workshops we host.

As well, check back often to see when the next training workshop will be, or contact us if you have specific needs or are interested in Windy Pastures service of training alpacas. As well ask us about the training that we give to our alpacas from early handling/bonding with our young cria to purchasing of an alpaca that has matured and is ready for purchase.

The 2001 TTEAM Clinic was a great success when well-known trainer Marty McGee Bennett gave a two-day seminar involving both lectures and Hands On training.

The TTEAM Method features a unique system of body work that is both easy to learn and very profound. This particular training method helps llamas and alpacas, both members of the camelid family, to focus and trust touch, as well as proximity to humans.

This method of training gives you a way to calm a nervous animal and form a bond that will enhance both handling and your relationship with your alpaca or llama.

The participants had fun, were challenged, and were amazed at the changes in the animals that were brought to the training workshop.

This particular clinic allowed participants to learn exercises designed to give insight into their own alpaca's or llama's instincts and behaviors.

Marty McGee Bennett travels around the world, teaching this special technique adapted from a method originally developed for horse training. Windy Pastures had a very rare opportunity to be involved in one of her clinics, which involved teaching people about topics including:

  • Haltering, picking up their feet and trimming their nails.
  • How to give injections and other medication to alpacas and llamas.
  • Understanding your alpacas or llamas actions.
  • How to cope and deal with behavioral difficulties, such as spitting, kicking and kushing.
  • Understanding the four points of llama and alpaca movement.
  • And many other aspects of care and behavioral understanding.

Windy Pasture's provided lunches and B.B.Q dinners. With confirmation of registration we provided names and contact information for nearby Bed & Breakfasts and hotels. As well, for the adventurous, we had an area set aside for camping.
